Stars of Tomorrow

The Louisiana Dance Foundation (LDF) will present Stars of Tomorrow Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Strand Theatre. Tickets are $25/ $20/ $15 and are available at the Strand Theatre Box Office (318) 226-8555. The performance is also the official ‘kick-off’ of LDF’S 26th Annual Summer Dance Festival held each year during the month of June. A silent auction will be available in the Strand Theatre lobby; proceeds benefit all students who attend the Summer Dance Festival.

The Stars of Tomorrow annual performance will feature LDF’S resident dance company, Louisiana Dance Theatre and students of Carol Anglin Dancenter performing repertoire by internationally recognized choreographers Dianne Maroney-Grigsby, Christopher Huggins, Jon Lehrer, Ceyhun Ozsoy, Gennadi Vostrikov, Angi Black and Carol Anglin.

The mission of the Stars of Tomorrow performance is to cultivate local talent from all socio-economic backgrounds; provide area dancers the opportunity to perform repertoire created by emerging artists as well as seasoned choreographers; present the art of dance to diverse audiences; and build community awareness and audience support for the Louisiana Dance Foundation, a non-profit organization formed in 1983, chartered in the state of Louisiana in 1984.

The 2009 Stars of Tomorrow performance also celebrates:

  • Louisiana Dance Foundation’s 26 years as a dance presenter in Shreveport. Since its inception, the local organization has offered more than 400 professional dance workshops, master classes, festivals, and performances to area dancers and audiences in Shreveport/Bossier and north Louisiana.
  • 26 years of an Artistic Partnership between Dianne Maroney-Grigsby and Carol Smitherman Anglin.
