Louisiana Dance Theatre (LDT) is the resident dance company of Louisiana Dance Foundation (LDF), a not-for profit organization chartered in 1984, based in Shreveport. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and Advisors. Carol Anglin is Artistic Director and Choreographer.

LDF/LDT's mission is to offer educational and performance opportunities to area dancers; professional performances to local audiences; and support to other arts organizations. LDT has performed for more than 400,000 people since 1984. The organization has hosted more than 200 master classes, workshops, Summer Dance Festivals, collaborations and performances. Professional companies presented include the Feld Ballet, the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, Ballet Eddy Toussaint de Montreal, Delta Festival Ballet, the Universal Ballet of Korea, and Chicago's Jump Rhythm Jazz Project, as well as guest artists from the San Francisco Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Houston Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Dance Theatre of Harlem, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Kirov Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Moscow Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Elisa Monte, and more.

Since 1984, LDF/LDT has collaborated with more than fifty organizations such as the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, Shreveport Symphony, Shreveport Opera, Red River Revel, the Strand Theatre, Louisiana Tech and Grambling State University's Orchesis Dance Company combining artists, resources, and audiences. LDF/LDT'S Dance Outreach program annually serves 25,000 individuals from underserved populations.

In addition to Regional Dance America/SW Festival performances throughout Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas, LDT has also performed in Orlando, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. where the company received the Jazz Dance World Congress Silver Leo Award (1994) and Honorable Mention at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (1996) for their performances of Dianne Maroney's Red and Carol Anglin's First Circle � Full Circle. LDT also performed in Russia in 1991 and in Austria at the Tanzsommer Innsbruck Festival in June of 1999 and 2004.

LDT director, Carol Anglin, was one of 15 international choreographers selected for the 2002 Jazz Dance World Congress � Choreography Competitive Event. Louisiana Dance Theatre performed Anglin's Harlem, which featured Charles McGowan, Heather Cohen, and Lauren Marketell in principal roles, at the Merle Reskin Theatre on Michigan Avenue downtown Chicago (August 2002). Anglin has again been selected for the 2007 Jazz Dance World Congress to be held at Millenium Park Harris Theatre, Chicago, IL in August 2007.

LDT has served as the resident dance company of the Shreveport Opera since 1991 performing in ten professional productions with many international guest artists including the 50th Anniversary performance of Samson et Dalila. LDT has also appeared in 36 performances with the Shreveport Symphony since 1986. The Shreveport Symphony and Shreveport Opera have commissioned Mrs. Anglin to choreograph more than 25 ballets for their regular season and outreach performances including the Symphony's Martin Luther King People's Concerts and annual Civic Youth Concerts for 7,500 Louisiana 5th graders.

LDT'S 2006-07 performances include: Red River Revel, Ballet Under the Stars, Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker, LA: DANCE ALIVE! 2007, Shreveport Regional Arts Council's ArtBreak and Christmas in the Sky, Regional Dance America National Festival, LDF'S Stars of Tomorrow, 2007 Summer Dance Festival and the Jazz Dance World Congress.

LDT members continue to receive acceptance and scholarships to prominent dance programs including Dance Theatre of Harlem first company, Jacob's Pillow, Boston Conservatory, Pennsylvania Ballet's Rock School, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's School, New York University, Fordham University/ Alvin Ailey, University of Oklahoma, Kirov Ballet Academy, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New World School of the Arts, Hartford Ballet, Marymount, Manhattan, Point Park, Ballet Aspen, Interlochen School of the Arts, and others.

LDF/LDT'S Board of Directors is committed to decentralizing dance and improving the quality of dance in grassroots America. LDT is proud of its 15-year membership in Regional Dance America/SW.
